Good idea, hal........time for a fresh thread anyway...... :)

Psych Meds:
Lamictal (400mg immediate release + 100mg extended release)
Topamax (400mg)
Tegretol (600mg)
Klonopin (.5 prn)
Zoloft (100mg)
Vit D (2000 Units)

*Used to take Seroquel for years but it's a no go after you get into your 60s due to the dementia issues. It was a good med for me, but I think I'll pass on dementia...lol Besides, I seem to be doing just fine without it. Thought processes are clearer too.

Ok, I'll play.

Psych meds:
Klonopin 1 mg 4x daily
Lanictal 200 mg nightly
Mirtazapine 7.5 nightly
Fluvoamine 25 mg am
Rexulti. 5 mg am
Melatonin 5 mg nightly

Added supplements for both gastro and psych (my docs communicate with my consent):
Vitamin D3 5000 IU pm
Fish oil 1200 IU 360 mg Omega 3 am
Vitamin C 1000 mg am
Vitamin B12 (sublingual) 5000 MCG am
Multivitamin (no iron) 2 pills every am

If you're wondering why all the supplements, my body does not absorb my nutritional needs regardless of how healthy I eat and that effects both the body and the brain.

I'll leave out all the allergy meds and other gastro meds and RA meds.

Wellbutrin 450mg (once daily in the morning)
Gabapentin 100mg (1-2 twice a day "as needed" but for me I consistently take one in the morning and two at night)
Depakote 1250mg (once daily before bed)
Risperdal 2mg (once daily before bed)

I take a Vitamin D supplement 2000 IU once in the morning, mainly to try to curtail an acne issue I've had for years. I also have an acne wash benzoyl peroxide 10%.

Not as much medication as some people but what I take stunts my ability to do creative writing, a hobby I was invested in, especially during phases of mania. I wish I could have that drive back without the other mania issues, but I guess life doesn't work that way.

My daughter is currently in hospital and has never smoked a cigarette but they are putting a nicotine patch on her every night. Has anyone here ever heard of this?

Nicotine can exharcebate mania. Maybe someone else has heard of something like this, but I haven't and I'm very suspicious.

I don't know about nicotine patches but there are several medications that gets used both for cessation and psychological treatments. Does sound odd to me though that they would use patches.

As for my current meds:

Psych:

150mg Wellbutrin XL
200mg Tegretol CR
200mg Lamitor
800mg Camcolith
50mg Seroquel as needed

Other:

500/20mg Vimovo
2.5mg Cardicor

I thought I had read that also about exacerbating mania which is what she is supposed to be getting treatment for. Ugh! I think she's landed in a bad hospital. I hope they somehow do more good than harm but I'm worried. She's also on 50mg lamictal and 2 mg risperdal and heparin 5000 to prevent blood clots. I can't wait until she's out!

MaxQ,

I can relate. I still get...stunned?
I was first drugged 30 years ago. Last week, my pdoc asked me what I was doing with his latest prescription "other than looking at it"?

If it makes it any easier for you, seroquel historically has been good to me. It's the only thing that slowed my head (and the world) to a reasonable speed. It does hit H1 before anything that helps mood-related stuff, so don't be surprised if makes you a bit drowsy (think antihistamine).

Good luck and keep in mind, better people than us have swallowed...

Seroquel 300 mg (instant release) - the timed release made me want to sleep 24/7
lamotrogine - 200 mg
Klonopin - 1 mg 3x/per

When I'm manic, for sleep (which the pdoc insists stops the cycle of mania)
Trazodone 100-200 mg
hydroxyzine (50-100 mg)

Then,
multivitamin
fish oil
calcium (osteopenia from a past eating disorder)
magnesium

This is pretty good though. In the past, I have been on as many as 8 prescription medications at once on a daily basis.
The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.

2 Depakote ER 250mg for day/night
Wellbutrin XL 150mg
*Sertraline 50mg
**Seroquel [24H] 50mg

*Sertraline - too little and I'm snappy & aggressive, too high a dosage & I felt like a zombie [brainless].

**Seroquel - lower dosage after massive weight gain 2lbs a day at worst; 5' tall and went up to 245 OMG! I was eating all night long... crazy! I did love Seroquel before the appetite/weight issues, I slept solidly, wonderfully, handled work with minor issues, & I felt optimistic.

I've only been on Wellbutrin for about 2 months now. The first week of reducing Seroquel, I couldn't sleep for 2-3 nights straight. I just stayed up, got through it, and finally crashed one weekend, sleeping through 2 days straight LOL

Now, I sleep 11-13 hour nights, so I expect my pdoc to tweak something or tell me to change my routine or something.
