Hello all,

I have a question for anyone to chime in on. My work environment/management has gotten so bad for me I am not able to function. Our group basically runs on chaos and crisis management. I have decided to go to my pdoc and ask for some sort of formal document with my diagnosis for bipolar, anxiety disorder and the rest. I want to then take it to the HR department for my company to request relief based on the ADA coverage of mental health disabilities.

So the question is just this. Has anyone here every gone to their company like that?

RonS,

I had to get some paperwork from my work and then give it to my pdoc to fill out and have them send it back to my company. Once that was all done I could take time off for FMLA.

I need to go beyond an FMLA break. I am going to try for a work reassignment. I have reached my end of being able to function where I am. I frequently end my days wondering if it is all worth even trying any more.

Hey Ron......sounds like a plan to me. I know how much you've been struggling. I would think the last thing you need is chaos and crisis in your work situation on a daily basis.

Btw, how did the new anxiety med work out? I remember the Klonopin was just too much for daytime function.

Hi Mocha,

The med changes are having an effect. Luckily it turns out I can take Xanax during the day without getting sleepy. That has been helping some, keeping me from getting fired. And reducing the Lamictal has begun lowering some of the anxiety also. I would say I had been at a level 10 anxiety, where 10 means if it does not stop I don’t want to live, and has dropped to about an 8.

I see the pdoc again Monday and will talk about dropping the Lamictal more with an eye to maybe phasing it out entirely. Of course that is only a piece of the problem. Still need to work on issues more in therapy and get something done with the job.

Sounds like a little bit of reprieve for you at least. Goodluck with the rest (:
